Title:  Harmony

…The emotional control machine, baptized as “Harmony”, became a central element in people’s lives. This revolutionary technology allowed users to regulate their emotions with just a touch: they could eliminate sadness, moderate anger and enhance happiness. At first, society celebrated Harmonia’s arrival, as she seemed to be the solution to all human conflicts. Crime dropped, mental hospitals emptied, and the national happiness index reached record levels. However, as the months passed, unexpected side effects began to be noticed. Creativity began to decline drastically; Artists, musicians and writers complained of a kind of inner emptiness. Without sadness, anger, or passion, they felt unable to create meaningful works. Young people, growing up with regulated emotions, lacked the impetus to question the world or seek change. Intellectual debates became monotonous and conversations lacked depth. Personal relationships were also affected. Without experiencing conflict or intense emotions, human bonds became superficial. Marriages became routine and friends drifted apart, unable to connect on a deeper level. World leaders were concerned about this lack of innovation and vitality in society. They decided to regulate the use of Harmonia, limiting its access to specific situations such as the treatment of trauma or mental illness. Little by little, people began to disconnect the machine, seeking to recover their spontaneity and emotional authenticity. Meanwhile, a group of young activists, known as “The Emotionists”, advocated for the full return of natural human emotions. They organized protests and awareness campaigns, encouraging people to disconnect from Harmonia and experience life in its entirety, with its emotional ups and downs. Over time, society found a balance between emotional control technology and the freedom to feel. Harmonia became a support tool, but humanity rediscovered the richness of living with all its emotions intact, embracing the complexity of the human experience. Artists were inspired again and human relationships regained their depth and authenticity…
